Afri Expedition Guides invites you to join us on our upcoming popular safari:

12 days Trekking and Safari – Kilimanjaro (Machame Route), Ngorongoro, Tarangire

Transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport to Kamao lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2:
Briefing and preparation day for Kilimanjaro trekking Machame route by Kilimanjaro Mountain guide.

Day 3:
An early start with a drive to Machame gate. Begin trekking through the rain forests on a winding trail, for 5-7 hrs past the first Unipart hut to the Machame hut campsite (3100m). Overnight.

Day 4:
After breakfast, leave the glades of the rain forest and continue on an ascending path, crossing a little valley and walking along a steep rocky ridge covered with heather until the end of the ridge. The route now turns west onto a river gorge at 3658m (5-7 hours). Overnight at the Shira hut campsite (3800m).

Day 5:
On this day after breakfast, continue to the nearby Shira Plateau, the Shira needles and cathedral. From the Shira Plateau continue trekking to the east towards the lava tower called the sharks tooth. Shortly after the tower you come to a junction leading to the arrow glacier. Continue to Barranco hut campsite (3900m) for overnight. (5-7 hours).

Day 6:
Leaving Barranco and ascend the Barranco Wall with some wonderful views for the top. Then descend through the Karanga Valley to your next camp site for the night (about 3-4 hours).

Day 7:
In the morning an easy day continues trekking to the Barafu hut campsite (4600m) for overnight. (3-4 hours). The two peaks, Mawenzi and Kibo can be seen from this point.

Day 8:
An early start for Stella point (5745m) on the way to the Summit, Uhuru peak. This part of the climb takes about 8hrs. You have now reached the highest point in Africa (5895m)!! From the summit descend back to Barafu, (about 3 hours) then continue to Mweka hut campsite (3100m) for overnight (5 hours).

Day 9:
The day is spent descending to the Mweka gates, (5 hours), where you will be met & transferred to Arusha at Kamao lodge for dinner and overnight.
This day we will have congratulation party.

Day 10:
Morning after early breakfast drive to Ngorongoro  conservation area, descend to the crater for the full day crater tour with picnic lunch box. Evening ascend from crater to the Lodge.
Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge.

Day 11:
After breakfast drive to Tarangire national park game drive in the park  with lunch boxes evening drive to tented luxury camp.
Dinner and overnight at Maramboi tented camp.

Day 12:
Early morning game drive at Tarangire national park with picnic breakfast(chances of seen cats acting) until afternoon. Lunch at the lodge late afternoon drive to Kilimanjaro airport for the flight back.

The safari is scheduled to start 6th July 2017.
Next group is scheduled for 30th August.

Ideal season for climbing Kilimanjaro

Conditions of hiking Kilimanjaro are quite variable. Generally, the only poor period is the late spring to late autumn. Exact conditions are difficult to predict, but as a rough guide, the following conditions apply:
In mid- January to late February: Perfect
At the beginning of March to the end of March: OK
In mid-April to mid-June: Poor
July: Perfect
At the end of July to end of August: Good
At the beginning of September to mid-October: Perfect
Mid-October to end of October: Good
At the beginning of November until just before Christmas: Poor
Christmas / New Year - mid January: OK / Good
